POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Quality Assurance Technician will be a part of the Quality Department’s team and be responsible for complying, recommending, developing, and implementing unique programs to ensure process and product quality. This individual will assist with daily operations in the laboratory through collaborative relationships with Quality Staff & Leadership to uphold company policies, formulas, specifications, and regulatory requirements as well as ensuring all finished goods meet product quality as well as food safety standards. This position requires an individual to work well independently, be self-disciplined, and well organized.

SHIFT: 4PM-12AM

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability, eagerness, and willingness to learn
• Have an eye for detail; an eye for the minute, tedious, and oft obscure
• Have the innate ability to work well independently
• Have the innate ability to self-manage and self-discipline
• Considers oneself extremely well organized
• Strong analytical and communication skills with computer knowledge (Microsoft Office)
• Creative problem-solving skills combined with innovative approaches to resolve complex problems are preferred
• An understanding of laboratory practices, techniques, and equipment is preferred
• An understanding of microbiology is preferred
• Experience with HACCP, GMP, and Food Safety training is preferred
• Model a “can-do” and team player approach in all work activities

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

The work of the Laboratory Technician is likely to include some or all, but not limited to, the following activities:

• Accomplish day to day laboratory tasks.
• Measure, quantitatively, the quality of products as they are produced; recording weights, volumes, densities, lot numbers, inclusion usage, etc.
• Perform plant wide environmental evaluations
• Review, file, and organize laboratory documents as needed
• Monitor processes and employee compliance to ensure quality is being maintained; proper labels are being used; presentation of final product is as expected; ensuring all good manufacturing practices, food safety trainings, ATP, and allergen awareness are being implemented and executed accordingly
• Assist in keeping the Laboratory clean, organized, and tidy
• Assist Quality Department to make continuous improvement part of the Oberweis culture
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards and legislation

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
• Able to speak and read English
